A spool is a collection of pipes and related parts that can be prefabricated at a shop for later installation and then shipped to the installation location for final assembly. Pipe fabricators use a pipe spool drawing as a reference to help them grasp the situation. Spools, or distinct segments, are used to separate pipes. At various intersections throughout a given structure, these spools join. A pipe spool sketch is designed to give the fabricator all the details they require to precisely fabricate or assemble the spool. Spool drawings provide all of the details for all of the pieces that were welded together in the shop on a single drawing.
